Biography

Born in Michigan and raised in Los Angeles, Taylor began performing at a young age, making her musical debut at the age of three roller skating and singing on the Jerry Lewis Telethon (dressed as Dolly Parton).

She worked as a child actress.[1] on television shows like Fame and The Twilight Zone, and appeared in films such as Nuts, Poltergeist II: The Other Side, and Touch of a Stranger.

Taylor won a Young Artist Award for "Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama" (1987–1988) for her role in Touch of a Stranger, (beating out Julia Roberts for her role in Mystic Pizza). As a young adult, Taylor also guest starred on television shows such as Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, Unsolved Mysteries, ER, and 7th Heaven.

Music career

Though Taylor was classically trained on piano and began singing early on, it was not until she learned to play guitar in college and began turning her poetry into songs that she realized music was her passion. After graduating from Vassar College (with her BA in English) and studying painting at the Sorbonne University in Paris and the New York Academy of Art, Taylor put out a solo EP, Waking, in 2006.[2] A. J. Mogis, known for his work with Saddle Creek Records and Bright Eyes, co-produced. The EP featured performances by Taylor's friends John Lefler (Dashboard Confessional), Joshua Grange (Dwight Yoakam), Brett Simons (Alexi Murdoch, Fiona Apple) on electric and upright bass, and Kristin McCord (The Walkmen, Elliott Smith) on cello.

Taylor was nominated by the Los Angeles Music Awards for 2006 “Best Independent Album of the Year.” In 2007, she was interviewed on Entertainment Tonight and on San Francisco's KRON news, and she performed with her band live on the music television show City Sessions: Los Angeles on the DISH Network.

Taylor is currently working on her new album, entitled One Foot In Front of the Other, produced by Dan Romer and Eric Robinson with additional production by Ofer Moses. It features an all-star cast of players, including Michael Chaves (John Mayer) on guitar, Ben Peeler (Alexi Murdoch) on guitar and pedal steel, Adrienne Woods (Josh Radin and the Jonas Brothers) on cello, Elliot Jacobson (Ingrid Michaelson) on drums, and producer Marshall Altman (Kate Voegele) on backing vocals. Her song "No More Wishing" from her upcoming album was featured on the Canadian drama Heartland in December 2008, and on the CBS show How I Met Your Mother in January 2009.
